In nearly three decades as a top landscape design architect in New England, Rob Akroyd has created and implemented thought-provoking, sustainable outdoor designs for a wide range of clients. His expertise includes landscape architecture, land planning, project management, site engineering, horticulture and permitting, with high priority to ecologically appropriate plans and materials.
During his tenure, Rob has personally designed and managed dozens of complex commercial and residential projects, from small to grand, from concept through permitting and implementation.
Rob's portfolio includes residential estates, hospitality destinations, housing cooperatives, mixed-used projects and public spaces. He has developed numerous master plans and open space plans to meet zoning requirements in various municipalities in New England.
Rob is certified by CLARB, a nationally recognized Landscape Architecture certification board. He is an active member of various organizations including the Urban Land Institute (ULI), American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Boston Society of Landscape Architects (BSLA) and the American Planning Association (APA). Rob is licensed in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York.
In his hometown of Lenox, Mass., Rob has served on the Board of Selectmen the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals, including terms as chair. He has held other volunteer positions on local task forces and committees as well.
Rob launched his landscape design career at Inland Hixon Associates in Connecticut, where he began as an associate designer following graduation from the UMass Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning in 1990.
